Choosing a system for your site
Stacker, semi-automated, or fully automated? The right platform follows the site, the envelope, and the pro forma.
There is no single best automated parking system — only the right one for a given site. The choice follows three things: the dimensions you have to work with, the building envelope, and the development’s pro forma.
A quick orientation
- Mechanical stackers are the most cost-effective way to add capacity within an existing or new footprint — ideal for residential and retrofit.
- Semi-automated systems add automation without the full infrastructure of a robotic system — a strong fit for mid-density and retrofits.
- Fully automated systems remove ramps and aisles entirely for maximum density — suited to high-density urban towers and constrained sites.
- Turntables and car lifts solve specific movement problems: turning a car around, or moving it between levels at the footprint of the car.
The honest answer usually arrives during a feasibility study, where we model the stalls, the footprint, and the ground you get back for each viable platform.
